When going to any of the Disney Theme Parks or resorts, the whole idea is to have a great vacation. To that end, Disney created a vacation club to allow people to stay in some of their nicest hotels and resorts. The company has devised a point system, and people buy vacation points, which they then use to make a reservation at one of the resorts. Once you buy some points, you’re considered a member of the Disney vacation club. You can use them in any calendar year, or save them for the next year, or even borrow some from the coming year in order to get into the resort or room of your choice.

 

Most of the available resorts are in Orlando, Florida, and you are required to select one of them to be your “home” resort. The plus side to it is that you can make a reservation in your home resort as much as eleven months in advance. With the other resorts, you can only reserve seven months ahead. Then, when you do make a reservation, the number of points you have to use depends on the type of room you select, which resort you pick, and the time of year you go there. Naturally, summer, Christmastime, Easter and Spring Break are very popular times. If possible, shoot for the early fall, just as the kids are back in school. That’s about as close to a “slow time” as you’re going to find at a Disney resort.

 

In terms of resorts, the Disney vacation club has some of the nicest places to choose from. If you love animals, you can stay at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas. If the beach is something you crave, you can try the Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, their Beach Club Villas, and the Old Key West Resort, all located in Orlando, Florida. Over in Vero Beach, they have the Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and then the Hilton Head Island Resort in South Carolina. If the idea of camping appeals to you, there are the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, which is also in Orlando. And finally, still in Orlando, is Disney’s BoardWalk Villas. Yet, the club does not limit you to Florida, or even the American East Coast. There’s the Disneyland Resort in California, another in Paris, and also the Tokyo, and the Hong Kong resorts.
