What exactly is a fastpass? It is simply a paper pass you can obtain from a fastpass kiosk close to the attraction. There is no cost to get the fast pass. You just insert your Walt Disney World ticket into the kiosk and you will receive a fast pass for that specific attraction along with your ticket. The paper pass will provide a time for you to return to the attraction. You are then free to move on to another attraction awaiting the time on the fastpass When you return to the attraction for which you have the fastpass you will get to cut ahead in line.
The fastpass since 2000 has been allowing visitors to spend their time waiting for a ride or attraction enjoying another part of the park rather than standing in long lines which eat up a lot of time you could be doing other things the park has to offer.
It is a known fact that some of the most popular attractions frequently have wait times as long as 1 ½ hours to 2 hours. Some of these attractions include Epcot’s Soarin and Magic Kingdom’s Space Mountain.

Surprisingly most people do not obtain them. Other theme parks may offer a type of fastpass but they usually have a free for this express service. Disney’s fastpass is completely free.
