Take Your Pick – Vacation Home or Walt Disney World Resort

If you are planning a family vacation I am sure there is excitement around your house.  The joy of a Disney World vacation starts weeks and even months before the actual planned vacation date.   For the ultimate family vacation there are some details that will need to be decided.  One of these details is where will you stay during your visit.

There are a lot of types of accommodation options available.  This article will provide some insight into two different options.  The two options for consideration include an onsite resort hotel or Renting a vacation home.   This writer has had experience at both of these accommodation types.

VACATION HOME

Florida has an abundance of vacation homes which can be rented for a few days to weeks at a time for your enjoyment while vacationing.    You will get much more than just a home.  The home usually comes with a fully stocked kitchen, that is appliances, dishes, pans, dish cloths, dish soap, and you may even find some food staples such as salt, pepper, and coffee.

A fully equipped kitchen allows you to prepare home cooked meals right in the comfort of your vacation home.   This can add substantial savings over the cost of eating out.

Laundry equipment is frequently provided along with an ample supply of bathroom toiletries, bath towels, hand towels, and wash cloths.  It is not surprising to often find cleaning supplies and laundry supplies such as detergent; bleach and softener are even included.

Homes of various sizes 3, 4, and even 5 bedrooms with or without pools are available.  Usually sofa beds are available in the home for additional guests.  Renting a vacation home is a very economical way to enjoy a multifamily vacation either with your family or friends.    You should check the rates on vacation rental property compared to Disney resort stays.  You may be surprised just how economical a vacation home can be.

There are a few downsides to vacation homes.

1.  You are on your own for transportation to and from the Parks
2.  You only have access to the parks during park hours
3.  You have to carry any purchases in the parks with you for the rest of
  the day

DISNEY PROPERTY RESORT ACCOMMODATIONS

There are many reasons to obtain accommodations onsite at one of the Disney World resorts.  Take a closer look before you rule this option out because you think it will be too expensive.

There are various levels of onsite accommodations ranging from value resorts to deluxe accommodations.   Having visited both a moderate resort and a deluxe resort I can assure you price is not the most significant distinguishing feature.   It is highly suggested you review closely the various resort options and choose the resort that both suits your needs and your budget.

The various resorts carry a specific theme.  You may find a theme that is of more interest than another.

Benefits of staying at a resort on Disney Property

1. Disney offers Magical Express Transportation which provides pick up and drop off service to and from the airport.
2. Disney provides onsite transportation between the resort and the various parks including Downtown Disney.  The various modes of transportation include busses, monorail and boats.
3. Disney offers extra magic hours for their guests staying on the property.  This could be early morning hours or end of day hours.   These hours are especially nice as there will be less people in the park during these extra magic hours.  You can get on and participate various rides without as long of waits as can be experienced during regular park hours.
4. Substantial savings can be obtained by the Disney Dining plans available only to park guests.
5. For the golfers in your group club rentals are included in the purchase of a round of golf.
6. Purchases you make at the parks throughout the day can be delivered directly to your resort.   This can really take a load off of you literally.
7. One card fits all is available for your convenience.   Your Disney card can provide you access to the parks, dining and shopping.   Your credit card is linked to the Disney Card making it easy to put all charges on the card that allows you access to the park.  You do not have to carry other credit cards or money for your purchases while shopping and dining.

As you can see with all of these benefits and especially with the transportation you will not have need of a vehicle to visit the parks and access the resort.   In the advent you choose to have a car you will be pleased to learn that parking is free both for the resort and the parks.  This feature alone often makes staying on site

Either type of accommodation you choose you are sure to find a little magic of your own in this fun filled vacation center of the world.
